IMPORTANT REMINDERS

· The Open House will be Thursday, August 19th, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. It will be a great opportunity to meet and to give you all the information you need to help your child have a great year in third grade. We look forward to seeing you there!

· You will find the 2 special classes rotating schedules in the American School website for you to print and keep at home. Please note when your child needs to come with the P.E. uniform. It’s important you put the schedules in a safe and accessible place.

· You will also get the Student Handbook sign-up sheet. Since there will be no homework this first week, we ask you and your child to take time to go over the school’s rules in the handbook carefully and sign and return the page to school by Friday, August 13th. You can find this handbook in the American School website www.amschool.org.

· Students will also be taking a few textbooks home to cover. Please use non-sticky covers (clear plastic works best). All books need to be covered by Friday, August 20th.

· Fill out the personal information sheet and card and return them by Friday, August13th.

· Please keep at home the D’Nealian letters and number sheet. This school year we will do a lot of cursive. This might help your child when doing homework.

· Students can buy lunch in the cafeteria or they can bring their lunch from home. Plan accordingly so that he/she will enjoy it. Students are encouraged to keep a water bottle in the classroom every day for them to drink as they need to.

· An assignment book and homework folder will be sent home daily. It will include important information and homework assignments. Please check it every day and initial after you check that your child has completed his/her homework. It’s the best time to encourage homework responsibility and good study habits.

· Checking the classroom blog on a weekly basis is very important. Every week new information will be posted.

Teachers, students, and parents working together will help make this year very successful!!!
